The Nassau County HOME Down Payment Assistance Program will provide eligible first time homebuyers with up to $50,000 towards down payment of the purchase of an eligible new or existing single-family home, provided that the applicant is income eligible and meets all program requirements. The applicant must also be able to satisfy the mortgage lender's minimum down payment requirements and be able to secure a mortgage. Homeowners are required to reside in the home as their principle residence for a minimum of 15 years or HUD will require a full repayment of the HOME down payment assistance provided.

The Suffolk County Community Development Department has Down Payment Assistance available for first-time homebuyers purchasing a home in the Towns of East Hampton, Huntington, Riverhead, Shelter Island, Smithtown, Southampton and Southold. Grants can be used for down payment. This program does not fund closing costs.

The assistance provided will be up to $30,000 for eligible applicants to assist with the Down Payment towards the purchase of an owner-occupied, single family residence, condominiums, cooperative apartments (co-ops), newly constructed or already built.

Additional funding for down payment and rehabilitation may be available from the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation, if the applicant qualifies. The applicant must also be able to satisfy the mortgage lender's minimum down payment requirements and be able to secure a mortgage. Homeowners are required to reside in the home as their principle residence for a minimum of 10 years or HUD will require a full repayment of the HOME down payment assistance provided.
